SCN Initiatives
The Southern Cancer Network works on initiatives from across the cancer continuum. Some of these originate from the New Zealand Cancer Control Strategy and Action Plan (the bowel and lung cancer mapping projects) whereas others arise from the SCN regional plan. Initiatives, such as the South Island Cancer Information System Project, developed from an idea supported by the SCN Steering Group which was successful in application to the Cancer Services Development Fund. Likewise, the South Island PET Scanning Implementation Initiative arose as a response to the new PET national clinical indications and funding from the Ministry of Health.
