Southern Cancer Network Steering Group
Purpose
The purpose of the Steering Group is to have an advisory and directional role to provide guidance to the current SCN Management Team and to oversee the development of the annual work plans, work streams and regional strategic plan for the Southern Cancer Network. The Steering Group will also consider and prioritise advice and recommendations from other Network groups in order to integrate funding and population requirements to achieve the Network vision
Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of Steering Group to:
- To identify and agree priorities for delivering high quality cancer services across cancer continuum of the SCN region – from primary through to Palliative and Hospice Care;
- To monitor and evaluate service provision including reporting data to inform and shape service development for the Southern region;
- To oversee the development of the SCN Regional Strategic Plan, which aims to achieve the goals of the Cancer Control Strategy and associated action plan;
- To receive and endorse service improvement and local cancer network recommendations and implementation plans and reports;
- To commission work groups and work streams to undertake specific pieces of work;
- To support and ensure a review of patient mapping process is undertaken across the SCN region's DHBs for specific tumour groups and identify options for improving outcomes for patients across the cancer continuum of care;
- To lead and promote monitoring of the Network’s performance in relation to national and regional standards and KPIs;
- To share knowledge and developments;
- To work collaboratively on regional initiatives and agreed priorities;
- To advise DHBs, NGOs and other providers on service expenditure prioritisation;
- To develop effective working relationships with key organisations associated with cancer services across the cancer continuum;
- To address any ad hoc matters issues or risk that the group identify is within the realms of cancer control for the Southern region;
- To participate in national initiatives and directives;
- To ensure plans are developed for implementation of agreed recommendations that scopes resources requirements and implications of implementation;
- Activities and interventions planned to be used throughout the Southern region promote acceptable quality standards;
- Advocate for quality data collection with respect to tumour streams and workforce;
- Provide an annual report of progress.
