South Island Palliative Care Workgroups
The development of district and regional palliative care networks is supported by the NZ Palliative Care Strategy and Cancer Control Action Plan 2005-2010, which identifies local and regional palliative care networks as a way to improve communication, integration and coordination of palliative care services. The Plan contains the following action under Goal 4 : Improve the quality of life for those with cancer, their family and whanau through, support, rehabilitation and palliative care.
The South Island Palliative Care Forum is being held in at The Atrium, The Oak Room, 455 Hagley Avenue, Christchurch (Hagley Netball Centre, next to the courts) on Friday 28 June. The purpose of this forum is to support South Island palliative care regional collaboration and to discuss potential future possibilities and priorities for the sector. This forum follows on from the conversations held during the South Island Hospice NZ and Palliative Care Road show held in April. Morning tea will be available from 9.30, and the forum will run from 10.00 to 3.30.
